Babymoon: a new trend in tourism.by Eric GagneWho said that everything had been invented in the tourism industry ? The babymoon is an emerging trend that exploits a new market: pregnant couples.
The babymoon consists in a trip designed specifically for couples who are about to become parents. As if it were their last trip before a long period of lethargy, pregnant couples can enjoy one last little holiday together. Travel agents, tour operators, hotels, resorts…, the tourism industry has seen in this emergent market a new sea of possibilities. That is why many companies has made available for future parents different kinds of packages that include walks, massage, relaxation treatments, special meals (chocolates, sweets, fruits…), shopping excursions for babies and romantic dinners. This trend that came from the United States, is starting to gain popularity in the european market. Among some of the proposals, Liberty Travel agency has been a pioneer in this type of travels, or the holidays in luxury hotels and complexes organized by the Baby Moon company, and finally, all the offers one can find in the BabyMoon Finder. Then, the Hotel Club chain proposes a number of destinations and stays ideal for this type of tourism, such as weekends in London or in Santorini. No less interesting is the babymoon package offered by the London's Renaissance Chancery Court with a gastronomic proposal only suitable for premoms (mini-cakes, a selection of cheeses, assorted candies, breakfast in bed…). In Tenerife, Spain, the Sheraton La Caleta's spa, beside their prenatal program for moms, suggests a couples suite for the future parents, in which they can enjoy the same services. The hotel Lopesan Costa Meloneras, in Gran Canaria, is characterized by a two night program that includes a romantic menu at the restaurant overlooking the sea, a gift of a pillow and massage for the future mother, an one hour session of aromatherapy for the dad. Not surprisingly, a guide to babymooners is being published, where you can choose between short stays to nearby locations or long distant trips to exotic places. Indeed, many doctors recommend travelling during the second half of pregnancy.
